Age verification

You must be 18 or over to buy vaping products in New Zealand. The law (Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990) requires us to check, and ticking a box that says you’re over 18 isn’t enough.

So we check your ID at checkout. It takes about a minute.

What you need

One of these:

NZ driver licence: the licence number (5a) and the card version number (5b)
Another photo ID, such as a passport, 18+ card or Kiwi Access card

You’ll also enter your date of birth. Your billing name must match the name on your ID, including any middle names.

How it works

At checkout, choose your ID type and enter the details.
Tick the box to agree to the check.
We send the details to Centrix, a New Zealand identity verification company. Centrix checks them against NZ Transport Agency or Department of Internal Affairs records and tells us if they match.
If they match and you’re 18 or over, your order goes through as normal.

How often

With an account: once. Your account is marked as verified and you won’t be asked again.
As a guest: every order. Creating an account at checkout saves you doing it twice.

If your details don’t match

Check that your name, middle names, date of birth and ID numbers are exactly as printed on your ID, then try again.

If it still won’t match, choose “other photo ID” and upload a clear photo of your ID. Your order is held until our team has checked the photo, usually the next working day. If we can’t confirm you’re 18 or over, we cancel the order and refund you in full.

What happens to your details

We only use them to confirm your age.
We keep the result and your date of birth. We don’t keep your licence or passport number.
ID photos are stored encrypted and deleted as soon as they’ve been checked.
